Take a virtual reality tour of the White House narrated by President Obama
You can now go on a tour of the White House from the comfort of your own home, with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as your guides.
Oculus announced The People’s House: Inside the White House with Barack and Michelle Obamain a blog post Friday. You can watch it on Facebook, or get even more immersive with an Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR headset.
SEE ALSO:Let President Obama take you on a VR tour of YosemiteThe video takes viewers on a tour sprinkled with the history of the White House and the first family's memories in nine different parts of the building, including the Situation Room and the Oval Office. The 360 video was created by Felix & Paul studios, a cinematic virtual reality studio, in collaboration with Oculus.
"This house belongs to you, and to every American," President Obama said in a post announcing the video on the White House Facebook page. "For eight years, just a short chapter in the long story of our democracy, my family also had the privilege of calling the White House home."
This is the second VR video featuring the president. Earlier this year, President Obama narrated his first virtual reality experience—a trip to Yosemite over Father's Day weekend—to mark the centennial anniversary of the National Park Service. Through the Ages: President Obama Celebrates America’s National Parkswas also produced by Felix & Paul studios and Oculus, in collaboration with National Geographic.
The White House is the only private residence of a head of state that is open to the public. White House officials have previously released a video series of behind-the-scenes footage, and they actively post to Snapchat.
