Gate receipts from first T20I to aid flood victims

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has racked up Rs1 crore and 30 lac from gate receipts of the first Twenty20 International match between Pakistan and England played at the National Stadium Karachi on Tuesday.

The cricket board will donate the money to Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.

“Cricket has once again helped in bringing the nation together,” PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

“I want to express my gratitude to cricket fans for contributing to this noble cause. PCB stands with the flood affectees in these testing times,” he added.

PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain also thanked the people of Karachi for turning up to the stadium in large numbers and playing their part in the rehabilitation of flood victims.

“It’s a huge honour for PCB to play a small part by donating to the fund dedicated to the people affected by cataclysmic floods. The donation will help in their rehabilitation.”
