Watch the crazy new videos of Elon Musk's first tunnel at SpaceX headquarters
Elon Musk tweeted on Thursday that his tunnel boring machine has completed the first segment of tunnel in Los Angeles.
On Friday, he followed up with images and video of a tunnel — supposedly the same tunnel segment — located at the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California.

Musk previously said that his freshly formed Boring Company is a side project with uncertain future, but lately it seems to be picking up speed. The Boring Company recently posteda FAQ that posited several strategies it plans to use to make tunnel boring more efficient, including making more powerful, electrical boring machines and building tunnels with a smaller diameter than usual. Instead of having cars drive inside of these tunnels, cars, goods and pedestrians would be driven around on electric skates.
In May, Musk said The Boring Company will build its first tunnel "from LAX to Culver City, Santa Monica, Westwood and Sherman Oaks," while "future tunnels will cover all of greater LA."
Musk also recently spoke to the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, about implementing a tunnel network, and said the results were "promising." He did, however, follow that up by saying that "permits are harder than technology," which implied that any sort of commercial venture is still far off.
